I got my first Mini ITX MoBo (M9000) and
with a Promise IDE controller I could hook up eight HDs
At this point I had just discovered a new and easy way to make
better cases
using only a front and back plate and putting them together with ten
aluminum rods. This design was strong enough to hold it self up
when mounted in the rack.
I was exited about the new method so I rushed into the process of making
this first case, I did not think the design through so the result was NOT so
good. After installing the PSU and MoBo, there was very little room for
the eight 120Gb HDs.
But instead of starting over or changing to only four HDs I sacrificed
good airflow and a 80mm fan to make room for all eight drives.
<-- BAD DESIGN :D
I knew it had to be redone at some point but I was happy to have it
finished and working so I could take the new 19" Rack into use.
